This leads me to believe the pulsa jet isn’t working. After it died I took it back apart and the reservoir had drained down a lot. After that, I coaxed it into starting and running for a few minutes (after I put some gas in the intake as well, but not so much that it was only running off that for the few minutes). Cleaned it, and put in fresh gas up there too. Took off the pulsa jet carb and checked it out. Quickly realized that there was gas in it that had gone bad.

This seems to still be the case and I had a good look at the plastic fuel pick up pipe when I removed the carburetor from the tank, but could not see any cracks or damage to the pipe or gauze pick up.

The previous owner said the fuel tank has to be full for the engine to start. I have done a bit of work on it, such as removed the head and de carboned and also cleaned out the fuel tank and installed new carburetor gaskets and a needle valve kit.
